Ginger (Zingiber officinale Riscoe)
Ginger is a food/herb that has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. It is a warming or stimulating herb that improves circulation, especially to the extremities.
I tend to think of ginger as stimulating circulation to the extremities and cayenne more to the core of the body.
It is fantastic for reducing nausea and has shown to be more effective for motion sickness than Dramamine . It can be used for nausea associated with pregnancy or chemotherapy also.

It is a potent anti-inflammatory and is a friend to those affected by arthritis. I take daily in an overall formula as an anti-inflammatory for joint support.
Due to its warming, stimulating effects, it can act as an aid to those with febrile like symptoms. Consuming ginger orally, in tea, tincture, or tablet form and combining it with a warm bath or sauna can assist the body in quick elimination of toxins, often associated with fevers.
Ginger has been shown to have anti-microbial and anti-parasitic activity which further aids in reducing the effects of an infection.
One can grate fresh ginger and pour boiling water over it. Let it steep for five minutes and drain the liquid off and combine with honey and fresh cut lemon for a refreshing & invigorating tea. Enjoy!
