Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale Roscoe)
Falls in the category of what I call a food that acts as a herb also.
Reduces nausea and vomiting, stimulates circulatory activity, reduces arthritic pain and a general anti-inflammatory.
I tend to think of Ginger as stimulating circulation to the extremities and cayenne more to the core of the body.
Can be useful with nausea associated with pregnancy, traveling on boats with motion sickness or nausea secondary to chemotherapy.
Can be incorporated into food, and also juiced with other fruits and vegetables.
In India, Ginger is referred to as a universal medicine.
I take daily in an overall formula as an anti-inflammatory for joint support.
Has been shown to be anti-microbial, anti-parasitic and antitumor in activity.
